Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce real-time images of the body’s internal structures. A device called a transducer emits these sound waves, which bounce off tissues and organs; the returning echoes are then converted into visual images by a computer. Ultrasound is widely used to examine organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys, and during pregnancy to monitor fetal development. It is safe, as it does not involve ionizing radiation, and is often used to guide procedures like needle biopsies.
Radiological services encompass a range of imaging modalities that utilize various forms of energy to diagnose and sometimes treat diseases.
